Dear Motivation, Welcome Back
“Your work is to discover your world and then with all your heart give yourself to it” ~ Buddha
I pride myself on keeping my blog real; with this being said I have a confession: I lost my motivation. I don’t know how it happened or where it went, but for two weeks it was just…gone. It had slipped away into oblivion.
Although I’m happy to announce that I’m back to normal and ready to work my little tail off, I must admit that for me losing my motivation was like having the life sucked out of me. How can I as a motivational speaker lose my motivation? The answer to that is quite simple really- life happened.
While I’m no stranger to adversity, and I’m used to facing life’s challenges for some reason my feet would move no farther. Maybe it was the lack of sleep, maybe it was the delay of my book being released? Really the reasons could be endless.
It’s easy to lose your focus if you take your eyes off your goal for even a split second. Life and God both have a funny way of distracting us or in my case forcing us to slow down, take a deep breath and then start again.
How do you get your motivation back after losing it? Here are some tips that helped me:
Think positive. People tend to lose sight of the positives in their life when you have the world on your shoulders and you are faced with adversity. It’s important to remember that life will always be filled with trials, tribulations and problems. Our path was not destined to be easy, if it was we would never learn anything new, and we would never grow.
Do what you love. I love to write, but my confidence had somewhat faltered after the incident with my publishers. With that being said, I put the pen to pad more vigorously than ever before. Although these articles will probably never be stuff that I release, it helped me gain my confidence back and realize what was important- MY WORDS.
REST, REST, REST. I am a workaholic, like many of you I manage a full time job, my daughter, my own house, plus my clients and motivational speaking. This can all become very overwhelming especially when sleep becomes minimal. So needless to say I will no longer be going 48 hours without sleep.
Write down your focus, and your goals. When you write things down they become a visual reality. Write, see and do.
As for me I am going to take Buddha’s quote and embrace it!
Hope this helps! As always feel free to let me know your thoughts!
Xoxo

Great tips!! I am definitely booking marking this
Also, I find that keeping a motivation book of all the things that motivate you from day to day can help. Just writing things that make you motivated or happy.
Like today, I had a extremely bad day. But once I thought about the things that make me happy, I was ready to work again.
