The Official Biography of Khiry “Tronic” Cummings

On July 23, 1989 in the heart of the city of Toronto a baby boy took his first breath. Now at the age of twenty- Tronic, whose real name is Khiry Cummings, is taking people’s breath away.

Growing up in Toronto until the age of eleven, Khiry along with the rest of the Cummings family made the decision to leave the city and take up residence in their home country of Jamaica. It was this decision which would ultimately lead Tronic to realize his love for music.

Starting his musical journey under the watchful eye of his music professor, Khiry learned to play the piano but quickly realised that there was much more gratification in creating his own music rather than learning someone else’s. It was then that a friend introduced him to Fruity Loops- a program designed to produce and master tracks, as well as beats. Unbeknownst to Khiry, although his passion for rhyming was evident, it would be his talent for creating beats and producing that would make him known.

At the tender age of thirteen, when most young boys were preoccupied with sports, Khiry was rapping and free styling at school. The school grounds became his arena, and the sport of his choice- freestyle battles. He became part of the band Sudden Depth, and began using the alias “Spitfya” when rhyming. He had discovered his career of choice, and put in the work to create his first mix tape called “Where’z the doubt now”, it went on to sell over one hundred copies. Although many would consider this a big feat for someone his age, it was not enough for Khiry, his drive and determination to succeed would be the forerunners in assisting him to achieve success.

By the time he hit fourteen, Khiry started producing beats on a professional level after saving up money and investing in a home studio. His talent far exceeded his age and this was recognizable to Jamaican rapper TSD (The Sickest Drama) who took Khiry under his wing and brought him to the center of all Jamaican rap- Gambling House Studios.

The whirlwind transformation that came from the meeting at Gambling House Studios would in the end earn Khiry the recognition of a talented and professional producer. He would go on to create beats for many of the artists of Gambling Studios as well as Jamaican superstars Movado and Vybz Kartel.

By the time Khiry returned to his birth city of Toronto at the age of eighteen his career was already taking off. His entry into adulthood was greeted by meetings with Christ Smith Management. He was also put on several remix’s including Andreena Mills “You and Tomorrow” as well as a track by Courtney “Yogie” John. Not one to disregard his city of birth Tronic also worked with local Toronto talent.

However, it would be a meeting with James Pew of the indie label Broken Windows that would change his career in a drastic way. In October 2009, he signed a business deal with Broken Window Records, changing his name to Tronic in the process.

Currently, he’s working on his first EP “The Unfinished Robot.” His first single “Make It (To the Top)”, features the talented vocals of Amanda Diva of the R&B group Floetry.

There’s one thing that is known for sure, Tronic is ready to take his place in the world of hip hop, and he’s coming with a vengeance. What he’s accomplished thus far is a mere fraction of the success Tronic is destined to have. Standing in the booth his passion for music radiates from his face as soon as he gets behind the mic, the end result personifies the love that he has for what he does.

“I claim to be extra ordinary’s finest, if it was possible to blind success I guarantee it still will find us” ~ Tronic
