In a perfect world violence wouldn’t exist. In  completely utopian society violence against women and children wouldn’t exist. The unfortunate part is that our world is far from perfect or Utopian so this violence does exist. There is a silver lining though and that is Dr. Roz’s Healing Place. So often women in abusive relationships cannot leave the position that they are in no matter how dangerous because they have nowhere to go and no resources to tap into.
Dr.Roz’s Healing Place is a wonderful facility that is dedicated to helping women and children escape violent lives and start fresh. They provide assistance from the beginning to the end. Everything from front line counselling to transitional housing and everything in between. The part of Dr.Roz’s Healing Place that touched me the most is the follow up and support program, they don’t just push you out the doors and forget about you, they continue to support you in any way, shape and form that they can within their means. Even after you’ve walked out of their doors.
Had I known about this facility a few years ago, I too would have been one of the women looking to start my life over with their help. Thankfully, by the grace of God I was able to overcome my negative situation and now I will be using my own life as a lesson book to ensure that my fellow sisters can also overcome their situation to be successful.
Wednesday, May 11th I have the pleasure of speaking to a group of women who hold a special place in my heart. While I do not know them personally, the women at Dr. Roz’s Healing Place and myself have a lot in common. This would make us sisters, and as sisters and women we must do everything in our power to help one another.
