Yin, Yang and Your Sanity
“Balance, peace, and joy are the fruit of a successful life. It starts with recognizing your talents and finding ways to serve others by using them. “Thomas Kinkade
I’ve talked a lot about balance in my blogs because I believe that it is something that so many of us are striving to achieve -myself included.
Now that I have opted to pursue my passion as my career, I’m finding it a lot more difficult to balance the two. At first I was putting too much time into my craft and as a result my business was suffering. Then it was putting my business first and then of course as a direct result the amount of time I had to focus on my craft was dwindling drastically.
In order to be successful as an entrepreneur you need to have a perfect balance between your passion, craft and between your business. Both thrive off of the other. You wouldn’t have a business if it wasn’t for your craft and your business cannot succeed without your craft . It’s a catch 22.
So what do you do when your yin, yang and your sanity are all askew?
The answer for me was simple. I’ve scheduled out time throughout the day to handle both business as well as set aside time in which I can strictly focus on my writing.
I’ve also found that as my business has expanded, I’ve needed help with handling it. After all there is only so much one person can do before it all starts to fall apart, so I’ve hired a team of people ( a fantastic team I might add) that have helped me push my business to the point that it is.
Having people who are as passionate about my brand and business as I am means that I can fully trust them to handle business on my behalf in the event that I am unable too. This of course leaves me more time to do what I should be doing – writing.
So here’s the bottom line, it’s not easy being an entrepreneur. In fact it just may be one of the hardest jobs in the world. You are both your own employer and employee. You bring your work home. You risk the chance of over working and being under paid.
Yet, it remains to be one of the most rewarding jobs in the world. Why you ask? Because you are doing something you love.
That to me makes it worth every hardship.
