PAST TO PRESENT
They called us fools for dreaming
Said that we were aiming to high
Setting ourselves up for failure
They said
Making a mockery of our life
They hung us from trees
And set our homes ablaze
Cursed us and our God
Refused to call us by our names
We ran from the hose
And marched for our rights
And after decades of running we stopped and turned to face our fight
Walking hand in hand with Jesus
We no longer run to escape the frigid water
We break world records
Educate the world
After years and years of suffering we’ve taken our place of prominence in the world
Our dues have been paid
The foundation laid
To stand united as one people and face a bright future
While treading our own terrain
Sonnet of Fury
The more bleach she throws
Her fit of fury continues to grow
How dare he be unfaithful to her
Did he even think of the consequences that would occur?
A scoundrel a dirty filthy bastard
If she had her way she’d have him neutered
He took an oath and was supposed to stay true
Now it was time to bid him adieu
She empties the bleach and lights a match
And to think she’d once thought he was such a great catch
The flames get higher and fumes more intense
As she makes her way past the white picket fence
The dreams and future she’d once looked forward too
Have all gone to hell thanks to a transvestite hooker named Drew.
Faded Pictures
A picture faded through time
A million broken pieces of glass lay at his feet
He pushed harder
She pulled away
He packs to leave
and she begs him to stay
Its a game called love of war
Emotions are the rope
Hearts are at stake
His past she cannot ignore
She cheated to even the score
A picture faded through lies
Two hearts broken into a million pieces lay at their feet
Two lovers say their goodbyes
His Jungle
A kiss,
so incredible, immaculate, irresistible
He would be both the beginning and the end
a perfect package wrapped up and waiting just for me
A touch
so personal, private, phenomenal
We were no longer individuals
we were one, where he ended I began like a circle never ending
His feel
so tremendous, tender, talented
this was monumental
he made every inch of my body tingle, it was raw passion
His love
so intense, so powerful, so tantalizing
animal instinct now replacing human nature
we defied boundaries, we did it everywhere
He kissed, touched, and felt my body
like an explorer in the jungle
All night long.
The Truth About Love
The realization that love is something that you cannot live without can come as suddenly
and hit you just as hard as a freight train.
Leaving you feeling derailed and more alone than ever before.
The only solution is to love, not just yourself, your child, or your family.
But to love everyone, even those who have hurt you.
Once you learn to do this your love will take on new heights
and be able to soar to insurmountable places.
The first initial heart break is always the worst
and yet even though we feel like we’ll never be the same we still get up,
dust ourselves and our hearts off and move on.
Leaving only a tiny piece of us behind.
But you see it is necessary for us to leave that small piece behind
so that when we need to we can go back, revisit and remember how to heal again.
